In the last couple of weeks, family drama almost made me lose sight of that, but the world seems to be shining brighter once more.
Since my last unannounced tumblr hiatus, I basically got the “Get the Fuck out of my house” speech from my mother, which wasn’t cool (yet I’m not 100% sure it was completely undeserved anymore), packed my bags, and headed up to New Jersey to stay with my Uncle for a few days. Then last Wednesday, I moved into my dorm here at Temple University, met my roommate and a few cool folks, and got a very much needed chance to breathe.
The last five days were more or less completely carefree. Counting today, I’ve been to the movies four times already (saw Takers, Step Up 3D, Lottery Ticket, and The Expendables, all pretty good in their own rights). Went to a hookah bar for the first time with some dudes (coughed and wheezed like an amateur, not so cool). Saw a free Wale concert (which was DOPE!!!…save for the lackluster energy in the audience). Partied. Socialized. What have you.
And then it just hit me. This is the first step to complete and total independence. The next four years is going to be filled with spiritual and intellectual enlightenment all the while forcing me to explore and expand the boundaries that contain the essence that once constituted my character. So far, I like how that feels.
I like it a lot.
Man, I love college.
